• Summary

In this project, the protective effects of selected medicinal plants against reactive
oxygen species-mediated and age-related diseases were investigated with special reference
to anti-aging and anti-Alzheimer activity. The study aimed to provide a scientific rationale for
the traditional use of medicinal plants to treat age-related diseases including neurodegenerative diseases as Alzheimer’s disease. Caenorhabditis elegans, nematode (a simple in vivo model system) was utilized for screening the induced effects of various plant
extracts on the redox status of the worm.
