Summary
The key goal of this project is to investigate the clinical characteristics, neuroimaging, and serum autoantibodies that could predict different aspects of disease progression including motor, nonmotor, and cognitive dysfunction through longitudinal study. Additionally, we will investigate characteristics of PD patients including nonmotor especially cognitive functions; neuroimaging differences including white matter lesions and biochemical biomarkers compared to healthy controls. Thus, we will correlate baseline clinical and neuroimaging data with progression of several features of PD. Moreover, neuroimaging and biochemical biomarkers will be correlated to motor, non-motor and cognitive manifestations of PD patients. Our previous research detected the specific cultural, biochemical (autoantibodies), clinical and genetic characteristics of Egyptian PD patients. Based on our previous studies, we hypothesize that in PD, Identifying the predictors of PD progression is important for patients' prognosis and management. These predictors could differ in different populations.
