• Summary

Climate change impacts the ecosystem and the built environment. The shift of climate change is happening now more rapidly than before. There is an urgent need from the government and NGOs to adapt for these new conditions that enable people to judge, act to occurrence, to decrease the consequences. Adaptive façades are multifunctional reconciling envelope systems that testament compound edifice sustainability dynamical the behavior in purpose of maximal environmental parameters. Responsivity of the façade has proven its efficiency in optimizing the global energy performance of buildings. This project will propose a holistic adaptive facade framework across four main domains; the end user needs, flexibility of recognizing and responding to change, enhancing building energy performance, and cost-effectiveness. To achieve the goal of this research, a scientific quantitative method will be adopted. In addition, an empirical study will be achieved based on a hybrid method; simulation and an up-scale model. It will consist of four main stages: selection, and computational modeling phase, fabrication of different parts of the model phase, sensing and processing phase and finally testing and validating phase. Subsequently, this work will propose a comprehensive dynamic adaptive façade model using fabrication tools and Arduino Uno to provide real data for providing a higher degree of climatic change adaptation

  • Achievements

Integrating circularity in adaptive façades will help enhance the building envelope component value. A circular adaptive façade module is constructed in this study as proof of concept
