Summary
Wider Objectives:
● Establish a world-class research platform in the field of autonomous vehicles.
● Address traffic safety issues, which is a major economic and health burden for governments worldwide.
Specific Objectives:
● Adapt a commercial Urban vehicle into an Autonomy level 4 vehicle as a relatively new technology that we can still contribute in significantly in the main Autonomous modules.
● Establish a solid research in the field of perception, specifically contributing in Lane-less Perception and navigation, through the usage of deep learning neural networks in the fields of pedestrian and objects identification in real-time systems.
● Establish a solid research in the field of localization and state estimation, specifically contributing in the research associated with covariance estimation of Extended Kalman filters, Unscented Kalman filters, H-infinity based filters, and moving horizon filters.
● Establish a solid research in the field of high-level control using adaptive optimal control strategies such as adaptive model predictive control, not to mention the contribution in the behavioral control for seamless driving experience. -
